If you have spent any time listening to this show or reading this website you will know that we love bad movies and beyond that you will know that we love one in particular: the Room. Released in 2003 long before becoming a cult hit, the Room is absolutely amazing in terms of how bad it is and how good it is at being that way. Our favorite Tucson theater, the Loft showed the Room for its 10th anniversary and happened to have star Philip Haldiman, who played creepy neighbor Denny, down for a meet and greet and Q & A before the movie played. The Gentlemen Radio was fortunate enough to be able to sit down with him before all that to take part in the podcast and just generally make Gentlemen Jeff and Patrick’s night. It was a great time and Philip was awesome and very gracious and generous with his time to sit down with us.
Philip talked about his time making the Room, his comic book My Big Break which you can get HERE, what he is up to now and plans for the future. It is a very fun conversation and you need to check it out whether you have seen the Room or not and if you haven’t seen the Room, you need to that immediately. Right now. Go do that, then come back and listen to the podcast.
Check out Philip Haldiman at his website Philiphaldiman.com
We also need to thank the Loft’s Program Director Jeff for being both generous and accommodating by allowing us to record in the Loft and just generally being cool to us. We love this place and this is just another example of why. The Loft is always doing awesome things from great independent films to cult classics and special events. Check out them out HERE.
Here is a trailer from Philip’s website for My Big Break that is too awesome to describe. Also, I need to stop saying awesome so much.
Finally, if you have never seen the Room before check out the trailer below to see what you are missing:
