Patrick's 10 Favorite Vampire and Werewolf Movies

05. Salem’s Lot (1979)

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, Salem’s Lot is technically a TV movie/mini-series but it was still creepy as shit. I was a big fan of the novel such that I had it taken away from me in 6th grade with the understanding that my mom would keep it for me until I was 16. On my 16th birthday I asked for it back but my mom had done away with it. I asked for the money to replace it and bought it again that day. It is one of my favorite vampire novels ever. The story concerns itself a bit more with the nature of evil and how it lingers around a particular place as if that place can be so evil itself that it is a magnet for the like-minded but it is still a vampire story through and through. One would think that being on TV would hamstring director Tobe Hooper’s ability to push the scares and deliver the gore but he manages to do justice to the source material and produce one of the creepiest scenes in a vampire movie ever. Seriously, how badly would you shit your pants if you were sleeping in your second floor bedroom and your dead brother starts tapping on the window asking you to let him in because he is hungry? When the theatrical version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer tried to do it with Luke Perry and David Arquette it didn’t work as well. In 2004 another Mini-series of Salem’s Lot was made starring Rob Lowe but I prefer this one.

  1. Okay, so I was almost to the bottom of the “vampire” list and I was like, “Where the hell is the Lost Boys.”

    I almost had a stroke.

    Best soundtrack, EVER.

    God.

also I was going to be furious about Silver Bullet not being higher until I saw Brotherhood of the Wolf. Good Call.

  3. You can also use midi controllers on certains phones, and you
can load your own sounds and samples in WAV or Soundfont format.
It’s all being done on a consumer and a grass-roots basis but I think some of the options that are available in
usable technologies can be brought here and the DVC30 was one of those.
Not all mp3 player decor will work with the next brand.
