Patrick's 10 Favorite Vampire and Werewolf Movies

01. An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Boasting the best transformation scene ever shown on film and excellent dark humor, An American Werewolf in London is nothing short of a genre masterpiece. Directed by John Ladis and starring David ‘Wouldn’t you like to be a pepper too’ Naughton and Griffin Dunne, An American Werewolf in London is about two American students backpacking across Europe who are set upon by a beast on the Moors. One of the students, Jack (Dunne) is killed while David (Naughton) survives with biting injuries. As David recovers and eventually shacks up with Alex, one of his nurses, Jack appears to him as a mutilated corpse to tell him that they were attacked by a werewolf and David needs to kill himself before he changes himself. David ignores the warnings and slaughters several people after changing. They appear as corpses too and David is told that his victims will be stuck in limbo until he ends the curse by killing himself. It is pretty dark stuff and the special effects and gore are incredible especially for the time. As mentioned it is also very funny and is a lot of fun despite the gore and horror elements. Enough cannot be said about the effects which still hold up today and the werewolf looks really awesome and really scary. The goofy werewolves of the Twilight series could learn quite a lot from this 29 year old picture.

So those are my lists. Feel free to sound off in the comments and post your favorites.

  1. Okay, so I was almost to the bottom of the “vampire” list and I was like, “Where the hell is the Lost Boys.”

    I almost had a stroke.

    Best soundtrack, EVER.

    God.

  2. 3 fright night
    2 interview
    1 lost boys

also I was going to be furious about Silver Bullet not being higher until I saw Brotherhood of the Wolf. Good Call.

  3. You can also use midi controllers on certains phones, and you
can load your own sounds and samples in WAV or Soundfont format.
It’s all being done on a consumer and a grass-roots basis but I think some of the options that are available in
usable technologies can be brought here and the DVC30 was one of those.
Not all mp3 player decor will work with the next brand.
