Episode 3, hopefully this episode let’s this show get some traction. First episode was good world building, second was heavy on the team building and they both have a perfect amount of Phil and cameos. Fingers crossed for a mention of HYDRA.

I am not really sure why they are so reluctant to say HYDRA. I have seen some people say the show is disappointing but I haven’t really thought so as much as it is just finding its legs. I also think that people have their own ideas about what it should be rather than accepting what it is.

Agreed, I enjoy the lighter atmosphere that is carried throughout the series versus the movie series. Heavy tone is great for heroes and high stakes but this is more like the C team and their never ending adventures with super awesome geeky Phil.

Final thoughts

 

Not really the episode I was hoping for, great having a build up for a major Avengers foe but I have a feeling they pay  off Graviton in the show or as cannon fodder for Ultron. They keep teasing us with the LMD business and a hint/joke next week about robots. Franklin Hall is Graviton, but this was a tiny bit of a different version of him. More altruistic than his comicbook counterpart or even animated appearance. This version would make a great addition to a masters of evil, lead by the always charismatic Loki and that might be a good Avengers III setup. I would highly recommend The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes episode “The Breakout” for an alternate origin that is a kind of halfway point between the comics and this show, plus is showcases why he can be such a threat.

I think this was a good episode and again it is world building but I kind of want more. I think that they should quicken the pace on some of the reveals. I think Coulson is definitely an LMD because of the muscle memory business. I can’t think of what else it would be. It is cool that they straight up added an origin for Graviton in this though because at least we know they aren’t just doing random Chitari infused mutates all the time.And yeah, Hall might have been altruistic here but lets see how he does when he eventually breaks out of the Vault or wherever that was…He will probably be a lot more of a villain. I am really glad that they are using established characters or establishing characters. I would be surprised if they pay off too much in the movies but just having an established world is amazing.
